Blended jam of Blueberry and Concord grape for a luscious blue fruit spread
Sometimes the weather is tough on the southern blueberries– if it gets warm too early the blueberry bushes start to flower sooner than one wants, and then if there is a late hard freeze it may freeze off the flowers or baby fruit.
In 2023, this is exactly what happened, and for whatever reason the Concord grapes at the urban farm came in strong. So we were short on Blueberry and decided to try a blend with the grape… presenting Blue Concord!
This jam is smooth, fruity and luscious. It has a blueberry hit but softer and less alkaline than expected, and then it also has a fruity warmth from the grapes that we don’t normally get with the blue… its an elegant balance and so very blue and delicious.
